The Practice

William S. Cook, Jr., M.D. is a board certified outpatient psychiatrist who provides outpatient treatment in a confidential, private office setting. Dr. Cook treats private patients from ages 18 and upwards. Insurance is filed as a courtesy to the patient, but insurance is not accepted as a form of payment. Dr. Cook does not participate in any managed care networks. When you see Dr. Cook, you can be assured that your medical information is confidential. Office practice is personal and flexible to the needs of the patient. Our office is located on the second floor of Highland Village in Jackson, Mississippi.

Dr. Cook has been practicing medicine for more than 35 years and psychiatry for more than 25 years.

Prescription Management: Prescriptions are handled in conjunction with office visits. Prescriptions are given in conjunction with meeting with Dr. Cook. Prescriptions are not called in over the phone or after hours. Emergency coverage is provided on weekends. The emergency coverage is provided by rotation of three other private psychiatrists.

In addition to treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders, Dr. Cook also provides outpatient treatment for opioid dependence in his Jackson offices. Dr. Cook prescribes Suboxone/Subutex, a medically-proven treatment to help individuals get off of pain medicines. Suboxone treatment involves monthly monitoring with drug screens, psychotherapy and medication management. Dr. Cook follows guidelines of the DEA when prescribing Suboxone/Subutex.
